Welcome
Welcome to Oz.
This isn't the Oz of your childhood. This is the Oz of recently-deposed dictators, of slightly-crazy old maunts... this is the Oz where things happened differently. This is the Oz of Wicked.

No One Mourns the Wicked is a post-Wicked RP, based off the musical, the book and some of L. Frank Baum's original Oz books. We welcome both original characters and canonical ones, and encourage all of you to enter this 'merry old land' of Oz.

Dorothy sat down on the stairs in the palace, head in hands on knees. She had no idea where she was. None whatsoever. She tried to keep calm, but she felt the tears coming. SHE-WOULD-NOT-BREAK-DOWN-AGAIN-TODA- oh, what's the use? She was tired, she was homesick, and she was lost. That had to entitle her to a good cry or two... or five.

Thank goodness there was no one around; everybody already saw her as the homesick little girl, and this certainly wouldn't help anything. She desperately wanted to be of use to somebody, but how could she? She wasn't strong, and while she was a bit smart, she had never been a big fan of politics, even back in the real world.

Just as she was working herself up to the really cathartic part of her sobs, she heard someone coming up the stairs. She jumped up, startled. Quickly she wiped her eyes and nose on her sleeve and straightened out her skirt. She must look horrible, enough to make Auntie Em turn bright red, but she couldn't help it. Taking a deep breath, she called, "Hello?" Her voice cracked, and the sound barely reached the wall she was standing next to. She cleared her throat and called again, "Hello?

Fiyero was walking around the Palace without a thought in his head. He had just been dismissed from another meeting with Ozma and other officials of Oz. It was quite a trying experience, trying to come up with a way to stop the rebellion, but he believed he was helping in leading them in the wrong direction as he supported the rebels. Elphaba, Nessa, Oriana, Averic and Riq (was Boq in on it as well? Probably.) were all connected to them and he was sure that they would need all the help from him they could get. But really did they need to host such boring meetings?

It couldn't be helped at the moment, so he decided to give his brain a break for a while and take a walk around the emerald embroidered Palace. The Scarecrow would occasionally stop and glance out a window, or say a friendly greeting to a passerby, but mainly the walk had gone undisturbed as well as silent. Silent until he heard a soft crying in the distance. This was strange, very few people would openly cry in the hallway of Ozma's Palace, so he went forward to see who it was. Down the stairs ahead he looked down, searching for the person, when he saw a rather small body, most likely the one of a child.

She had obviously heard him as she was calling out to him. The voice was so familiar, it reminded Fiyero of someone, but he had yet to see the person's face. Only the back of their head that brown locks graced and cascaded down her back. "Excuse me miss, but may I--" he stopped dead in his tracks when the form turned around, his jaw dropping at the sight.

"Dorothy?"

A wave of relief flooded over Dorothy as she heard the voice. It was a friend, it was someone who had seen her when she was a lot worse, it was the Scarecrow. She quietly sighed a breath of relief, glad to see a friendly face rather than a Gale Forcer or even Ozma, at this point. The "little girl" was so much stronger than she was...

There had actually been a time when she had thought that he was her friend from the real world, a farmhand. She looked at his straw body. No, there was no reason for him to be anything but a scarecrow. Her dreams were always strange, and she had learned not to rationalize them.

Of course, seeing him just brought back all her memories of that time when she was much worse. Back then, she had felt trapped, and the tasks set in front of her had seemed too big for her to tackle. There seemed to be bad things, evil things everywhere, and she couldn't hide. But then she had gone home- or was that a dream, too? She didn't know anymore.

She smiled, which must have looked odd with the tear lines streaming down her face, and moved to hug him. "Scarecrow! Boy, am I glad to see you here!"

The Scarecrow saw Dorothy turn around and reveal a frightened and sad face. But when she recognized it as him the face changed to a happier and more joyous one. She rushed up to him and threw her eyes around him in a tight embrace, which couldn't hurt his straw form when it might have hurt an actual human. "Scarecrow! Boy, am I glad to see you here!"

He gently put his hands on her back and patted it softly, returning the embrace. Then they parted from the hug and faced each other. Fiyero was shocked Dorothy had come back to Oz, he thought she had left for good. How could she come back? He believed it had been quite impossible, yet here she stood before him. For once in a long time he had been confused and he itched his straw filled head.

"Dorothy, how did you get back here? I thought you had gone back to Can-sas?" Fiyero asked, trying to pronounce the land correctly, though the spelling he imagined might have been off.

Boq left the meeting only moments after Fiyero had. Yet, Fiyero was no doubt in a hurry. Probably to get back to Elphaba, wherever she was now. Boq held back a chuckle. He couldn't actually blame Fiyero. After all, he happily found himself feeling the same about Nessarose.

He was on his way out of the palace when he had heard voices. Boq came to a stop, quickly taking on his Tin-man persona before he continued on. What he saw there nearly made him drop that persona. However, Boq collected himself as he managed "Dorothy?"
He hurried over as quickly as his tin body would allow him. A warm and friendly smile on his ow face.

It felt good, the hug. You'd think that scarw wouldn't be comfortable, but it really didn't bug her. She pulled away happier than she had been since she had come back to Oz.

Dorothy laughed as she hear the Scarecrow slowly say her home name. "I don't know how I got back, exactly," she said, weighing her words. "It seemed like I was with Auntie Em, and Uncle Henry, and then I found myself back here." She blushed, self-conscious. "I don't really remember much. She didn't elaborate, for she had a feeling that if she ever said she thought this was a dream, it would all go away.

Then she heard a familiar metallic sound. "Tin Man? She turned her head and saw her old friend. Her heart felt fuller, and, here, with her two friends, it was almost as if she was home again.

They said he didn't have a heart, but Dorothy didn't believe it, anymore than she believed that Scarecrow was brainless. They, and the Lion, had always seemed fully human to her. And there presence, while part of the surreal world in front of her, calmer her, and in a strange way made it all feel more real.

Fiyero released Dorothy from the hug and heard her explain how she had gotten back to oz when he thought she had been gone forever. "I don't know how I got back, exactly. It seemed like I was with Auntie Em, and Uncle Henry, and then I found myself back here." That was rather strange, spontaneously coming from one place to another. Surely it had been more clean and less disastrous than the last time she had come to Oz, something he was thankful for. "I don't really remember much." Of course she wouldn't. Because life was tough that way and wouldn't allow you to remember important things.

Then from behind Dorothy came a metallic noise, a sound that Fiyero would recognize anywhere. It was none other than Boq, or the Tin Man, as he was more popularly known as around Oz. Of course once Dorothy heard it she turned around gleefully. "Tin Man?" It was like a reunion, minus Brrr of course, but he had been elsewhere at the moment. Fiyero was glad that he didn't have to meet Dorothy alone. Plus he was sure Boq was happy to see her as well.

"Tin Man, you've come at just the right time. Look who has dropped in, but she decided to leave the house in Cans-as," he joked.

Boq chuckled. "Well, that's probably a good thing then."
He sat down on the other side of Dorothy. "It's good to see you again." And the tin man meant that.

Dorothy smiled at her two friends, but then it struck her as odd that they two of them were here. She had never really seen them as Emerald City people- they always seemed like counttry people, like her, so she blurted out, "What are you two doing here?"

Probably not the best way to say it, but it was said, and so she had to deal with it. She looked away, avoiding their eyes, in case they were angry. Dorothy hated conflict, and she was a master at avoiding it.

"After you and the Wizard left Oz, things have changed. Glinda began ruling for a time then she placed a new ruler on the throne, the Princess Ozma. The Tin Man and I have become officials since then, I as a diplomat for the West in a way and the Tin Man holds power in Munchkin Country. Things have calmed down a little since you left."

He was lying big time. There was constant unrest in Oz, which had been caused by Elphaba's, his and Nessa's "deaths." Without them, people didn't know who the enemy was and they tried to find a new person to hate. Ozma had been the target of some, Morrible had been another and people still seemed to think Ozma was in hiding and that the current ruler was an impostor. It couldn't be helped, but he could keep Dorothy away from that madness for now.

"Scarecrow's pretty much summed it up" Boq replied to the girl's question. "Ozma pretty much let's us run things in our areas. The only thing she requests is that we meet with her on occasion" he continued, explaining why the two of them were there. "And we gladly oblige."

Boq knew Fiyero was attempting to save Dorothy from everything that was going on currently. Yet, he also knew that if Ozma found out Dorothy was here, all that would be for nothing. The Can-sas girl would be wrapped up in the mess in nothing flat. He gave a quick glance back in the direction the two of them had come from, making sure no one else was about to surprise them.

Diplomats? Dorothy looked at her friends. She didn't see them as diplomats. They were adventurers, weren't they? Off traveling the Yellow Brick Road, fighting danger, or at least, what she thought had been danger- dancing the jitterbug! They were certainly not diplomats, sitting all fat in chairs, smoking pipes and saying, "Well, I think that it would be splendid if we built a new canal in Panama..", not that anyone here knew where Panama was, for she herself didn't. But they both said that they were diplomats. She looked them over- it didn't look like they had gained any weight, but of course, tin and straw could hide that well. They didn't smell of smoke, either.

She noticed the Tin Man and Scarecrow looked nervous. She tilted her head, wondering why. The Palace was safe, she had been told, it was safer than most, if not all, of Oz; the Gale Force protected it. So why were they so nervous? Maybe it was just safe for her, with all the people out to get her. She had to constantly remind herself that Oz was much more a nightmare than a fantasy, but it was so easy to forget. Still, they looked awful jumpy, so she asked, "What's wrong? Why do you keep looking over your shoulders?"

Fiyero mind began to race when Dorothy was asking them why they were looking over their shoulders and what was wrong. He couldn't tell her all the problems that were going on in Oz, he just couldn't ruin her illusion of Oz. She had constantly thought of Oz as a magical place and he didn't want to be the one to ruin it for her. Dorothy had to find that on her own...

"Nothing is wrong Dorothy. We're just happy to see you've come back. Tell us, how have things been for you since you left us?"
